Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Ground beef
1 pound
Serrano peppers
3, diced (adjust based on heat preference)
Tomatoes
2 cups, diced (fresh or canned)
Cumin
1 teaspoon
Chili powder
1 tablespoon
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Water
1 cup
Cilantro
1/4 cup, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until the onion becomes translucent.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the diced Serrano peppers, tomatoes, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  4. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a simmer. Once simmering, cover the skillet with a lid and let it cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. After 30 minutes, remove the skillet from heat. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro before serving.
  6. Serve hot with a side of rice or warm tortillas to soak up the flavorful sauce.
