Servings: 8

Ingredients

Butter
1 cup, softened
Sugar
1 cup
Eggs
3
Vanilla Extract
1 teaspoon
All-purpose flour
2 cups
Baking Powder
1 teaspoon
Milk
1/2 cup
Powdered sugar
for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Generously grease a round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and egg mixture, alternating with the milk. Stir until the ingredients are just combined, taking care not to over mix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula for an even bake.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  8. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, dust the top of the cake generously with powdered sugar before slicing and serving.
