Servings: 12
Ingredients
- Salt (2 teaspoons)
- All-purpose flour (3 cups)
- Warm water (1 1/2 cups)
- Sourdough starter (1 cup)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter and warm water, ensuring it's well mixed.
- Slowly add in the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing continuously until a sticky dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently until the dough is smooth and elastic. This should take about 10 minutes.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free area for about 2 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size.
- After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air and shape it into a loaf. Place it on a baking sheet and let it rise for another hour.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F. Once the dough has risen, bake the sourdough bread for 25 to 30 minutes, or until it's golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing. This final step allows the bread's crumb to set and the flavors to develop even further.
