
Spaghetti and Meatballs
Classic spaghetti and meatballs in a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Basil (1 tablespoon, chopped)
- Tomato sauce (2 cups)
- Onion (1, finely chopped)
- Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
- Egg (1)
- Parmesan cheese (1/2 cup, grated)
- Breadcrumbs (1/2 cup)
- Ground beef (1 pound)
- Spaghetti (1 pound)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, and half of the chopped onion. Season with salt and pepper.
- Form the mixture into meatballs and set aside.
- In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the remaining onion and cook until soft.
- Add the tomato sauce and basil to the pot and bring to a simmer.
- Add the meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- While the meatballs are cooking, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions.
- Drain the spaghetti and serve topped with the meatballs and sauce.
