Ingredients
- Spaghetti noodles
- 12 ounces
- Ground beef
- 1 pound
- Onion
- 1, chopped
- Garlic
- 3 cloves, minced
- Canned diced tomatoes
- 14.5 ounces
- Tomato sauce
- 15 ounces
- Italian seasoning
- 2 teaspoons
- Salt
- to taste
- Black pepper
- to taste
- Parmesan cheese
- for serving, grated
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti noodles according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until the beef is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and reduce the heat to low.
- Let the sauce simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the flavors meld together.
- Serve the hearty meat sauce over a bed of cooked spaghetti noodles. Top generously with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
Tips
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the sauce while it simmers.
- Feel free to substitute ground beef with ground turkey or a meat alternative for a lighter option.
- Add a splash of red wine to the sauce for depth of flavor.
