
Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce
A classic Italian dish featuring spaghetti pasta topped with a flavorful tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
- Parmesan cheese (1/4 cup, grated)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Dried oregano (1 teaspoon)
- Dried basil (1 teaspoon)
- Tomato paste (2 tablespoons)
- Canned crushed tomatoes (1 can (28 ounces))
- Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
- Onion (1, finely chopped)
- Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
- Spaghetti (8 ounces)
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
- Simmer the sauce for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Serve the cooked spaghetti topped with the tomato sauce.
- Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
