Ingredients

  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • Parmesan cheese (1/4 cup, grated)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Dried oregano (1 teaspoon)
  • Dried basil (1 teaspoon)
  • Tomato paste (2 tablespoons)
  • Canned crushed tomatoes (1 can (28 ounces))
  • Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
  • Onion (1, finely chopped)
  • Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
  • Spaghetti (8 ounces)

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  5. Simmer the sauce for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  7. Serve the cooked spaghetti topped with the tomato sauce.
  8. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
