Spiced Beef Roast
Indulge in the comforting warmth of a Spiced Beef Roast, a dish that marries tender, juicy beef with a symphony of spices. This hearty main course is perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners, evoking the rustic traditions of hearty roasts enjoyed by generations. The blend of paprika, cayenne pepper, and garlic creates an aromatic crust that seals in the flavors, while the slow-cooking process ensures each bite melts in your mouth. Serve it alongside mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables for a truly satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- Beef roast
- 3-4 pounds
- Olive oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Beef broth
- 2 cups
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper
- 1 teaspoon
- Paprika
- 2 teaspoons
- Cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder
- 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to create a spice rub.
- Rub the spice mixture evenly over the entire surface of the beef roast, ensuring it is well coated.
- In a large oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully add the beef roast to the pot and sear it on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side. This step locks in the juices and adds depth of flavor.
- Once the roast is seared, pour in the beef broth around the roast, being careful not to wash off the spice rub.
- Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven.
- Cook for approximately 2 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender and has an internal temperature of at least 145°F (63°C).
- Remove the pot from the oven and let the beef rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a moist, flavorful roast.
- Slice the beef and serve it warm, drizzled with the pan juices.
Tips
- For an added depth of flavor, consider marinating the beef in the spice rub overnight.
- You can also add root vegetables like carrots and potatoes to the pot during the last hour of cooking for a complete one-pot meal.
- Experiment with different spices such as cumin or coriander for a unique twist.
