Ingredients

Original recipe serves 4

Fish fillets
4 (about 6 oz each)
Cilantro
1/4 cup, chopped
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Sesame oil
1 tablespoon
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
Fresh ginger
1 tablespoon, grated
Garlic
4 cloves, minced
Lime
2, juiced

Instructions

  1. Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and salt until well combined.
  3. Place the fish fillets in a steamer basket, ensuring they are not overlapping. Pour the lime-garlic mixture over the fillets, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Set up a steamer pot or bamboo steamer over boiling water. Carefully place the steamer basket with the fish on top, cover, and steam for about 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Once cooked, carefully remove the steamer basket from the pot. Garnish the fish with chopped cilantro before serving.

Tips

  • 💡 For added flavor, marinate the fish fillets in the lime-garlic mixture for 30 minutes before steaming.
  • 💡 Feel free to use other white fish like tilapia or cod, or even shrimp for a variation.
  • 💡 Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or jasmine rice to complement the dish.
