Stekt Torsk Med Remulade is a cherished Norwegian dish that beautifully showcases the delicate flavors of pan-fried cod. This traditional recipe captures the essence of Norway's coastal heritage, where fresh seafood reigns supreme. Each bite of tender, flaky cod is perfectly complemented by a zesty homemade remoulade sauce, which adds a delightful tang and creaminess. Often enjoyed with a side of boiled potatoes or a crisp salad, this dish is a celebration of simple ingredients and robust flavors that transport you straight to the shores of Norway.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

Cod fillets
4 (6-ounce) fillets
Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
All-purpose flour
1/2 cup
Butter
4 tablespoons
Mayonnaise
1/2 cup
Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon
Pickle relish
2 tablespoons
Lemon juice
1 tablespoon
Capers
1 tablespoon, chopped
Fresh parsley
2 tablespoons, chopped

Instructions

  1. Begin by seasoning the cod fillets generously with salt and black pepper on both sides. Dredge each fillet in all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess flour.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once the butter is hot and bubbling, carefully add the cod fillets to the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish is golden brown and flakes easily with a fork.
  3. While the cod is cooking, prepare the remoulade sauce. In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, pickle relish, lemon juice, chopped capers, and parsley. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and the sauce is smooth.
  4. Once the cod is cooked through, transfer it to a serving platter. Serve the pan-fried cod hot, garnished with a generous dollop of the tangy remoulade sauce on top.
