Sticky Rice Balls

These delicious sticky rice balls are a popular Asian dessert. They are made with glutinous rice and filled with sweet fillings like red bean paste or sesame paste.

Ingredients

  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish) (1 tablespoon)
  • Water (for cornstarch slurry) (1/4 cup)
  • Cornstarch (1/4 cup)
  • Sweet filling (red bean paste, sesame paste, etc.) (1 cup)
  • Water (1 cup)
  • Glutinous rice flour (2 cups)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour and water. Mix well until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Divide the dough into small portions and flatten each portion with your hands.
  3. Place a spoonful of sweet filling in the center of each flattened dough portion.
  4. Gently fold the edges of the dough over the filling and seal it to form a ball shape.

  7. Remove the cooked sticky rice balls from the pot and transfer them to a plate.
  8. Drizzle the cornstarch slurry over the sticky rice balls to give them a glossy appearance.
  9. Optional: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish.
  10. Serve the sticky rice balls warm and enjoy!
