Ingredients

Original recipe serves 2

Glutinous rice
2 cups
Youtiao (Chinese doughnut)
2, cut in half
Pork floss
1/2 cup
Pickled mustard greens
1/2 cup, chopped
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
Sesame seeds
1 tablespoon, toasted

Instructions

  1. Soak the glutinous rice in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and steam it for about 15 minutes, or until the rice becomes translucent and sticky.
  3. While the rice is steaming, prepare the youtiao by cutting it in half lengthwise to create a pocket.
  4. Once the rice is ready, spread it on a clean surface or a bamboo mat, ensuring an even layer.
  5. Place the youtiao in the center of the rice, then generously add the chopped pickled mustard greens and pork floss on top.
  6. Carefully roll the rice around the fillings, pressing firmly to ensure everything sticks together and forms a tight roll.
  7. Drizzle the soy sauce over the top of the roll and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
  8. Cut the roll into bite-sized pieces for easier enjoyment.
