Instructions
- Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
- In a large pot, add the sticky rice and enough water to cover it. Let it soak for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- After soaking, drain the rice and transfer it to a steamer basket or a rice cooker if available. Steam the rice for about 20 minutes, or until it becomes sticky and tender.
- While the rice is steaming, heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until aromatic.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce and oyster sauce. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and stir to coat the sausage and aromatics.
- Add the steamed sticky rice to the skillet and toss everything together until well combined.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the rice is heated through.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy this flavorful dish from Southeast Asia!
Tips
- For an added kick, consider adding a chopped chili pepper or a dash of hot sauce.
- You may also substitute sausage with other proteins like chicken, shrimp, or tofu for a vegetarian version.
