Servings: 4

Ingredients

Tortilla wraps
4 large
Lettuce leaves
4 large leaves
Carrot
1 medium, julienned
Red onion
1/2, thinly sliced
Bell peppers
1, thinly sliced (any color)
Vegetable oil
2 tablespoons
Cornstarch
1 tablespoon
Ketchup
1/4 cup
Maple syrup
2 tablespoons
Rice vinegar
3 tablespoons
Soy sauce
3 tablespoons
Tempeh
8 ounces, sliced
Water
1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, ketchup, cornstarch, and water until smooth to create the sweet and sour sauce.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced tempeh and cook for about 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Pour the prepared sweet and sour sauce over the tempeh in the skillet. Stir well to evenly coat the tempeh. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and glaze the tempeh.
  4. Warm the tortilla wraps in a separate skillet or microwave for a few seconds until pliable.
  5. To assemble the wraps, place a lettuce leaf on each tortilla wrap, followed by a generous portion of the sweet and sour tempeh. Top with sliced bell peppers, red onion, and julienned carrot.
  6. Fold the sides of the tortilla wraps over the filling, then roll tightly to form a wrap.
  7. Serve the sweet and sour tempeh wraps immediately, and enjoy the delicious burst of flavors!
