Ingredients

Ground beef
1 pound
Cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon
Brown sugar
1 tablespoon
Onions
2, thinly sliced
Tomato
1, sliced
Lettuce
4 leaves
Burger buns
4
Mayonnaise
1/4 cup
Sriracha sauce
2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the sliced onions and brown sugar. Cook until the onions are caramelized, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Form the mixture into 4 equally sized patties.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the spicy mayo by mixing the mayonnaise and Sriracha sauce in a small bowl. Adjust the amount of Sriracha to your desired spice level.
  5. To assemble the burgers, spread a generous amount of spicy mayo on the bottom half of each burger bun. Place the cooked beef patties on top, followed by a layer of caramelized onions, a slice of tomato, and a leaf of lettuce. Top with the other half of the bun.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy the delightful combination of sweet and spicy flavors!

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra kick, add sliced jalapeños or pepper jack cheese.
  • 💡 Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • 💡 Toast the burger buns on the grill for added texture and flavor.
