Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, add the sliced onions and brown sugar. Cook until the onions are caramelized, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Form the mixture into 4 equally sized patties.
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the spicy mayo by mixing the mayonnaise and Sriracha sauce in a small bowl. Adjust the amount of Sriracha to your desired spice level.
- To assemble the burgers, spread a generous amount of spicy mayo on the bottom half of each burger bun. Place the cooked beef patties on top, followed by a layer of caramelized onions, a slice of tomato, and a leaf of lettuce. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the delightful combination of sweet and spicy flavors!
Tips
- For an extra kick, add sliced jalapeños or pepper jack cheese.
- Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Toast the burger buns on the grill for added texture and flavor.
