Swiss Chard and Feta Phyllo Triangles

These delightful Swiss Chard and Feta Phyllo Triangles are a savory Greek appetizer that combines the earthy flavors of Swiss chard with tangy feta cheese, all wrapped in crispy phyllo pastry. Perfect for sharing at parties or as a light snack, these triangles are a nod to the traditional Greek spanakopita, made with a delicious twist!

Serves 8

Ingredients

Swiss chard
1 pound, chopped
Feta cheese
1 cup, crumbled
Onion
1 medium, finely chopped
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Egg
1, beaten
Fresh dill
1/4 cup, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried dill)
Phyllo pastry sheets
8 sheets
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon
Sesame seeds
2 tablespoons (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent.
  3. Add the chopped Swiss chard to the skillet and cook until wilted, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked Swiss chard mixture, crumbled feta cheese, beaten egg, dill, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry on a clean surface and brush lightly with olive oil. Place another sheet on top and brush again. Cut the layered phyllo into 3 strips lengthwise.
  6. Place a tablespoon of the filling at one end of each strip. Fold the corner over to form a triangle, then continue folding the triangle along the strip until you reach the end. Brush the edges with olive oil to seal.
  7. Repeat with the remaining phyllo sheets and filling.
  8. Place the triangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds, if using.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
