Swiss Chard and Feta Phyllo Triangles
These delightful Swiss Chard and Feta Phyllo Triangles are a savory Greek appetizer that combines the earthy flavors of Swiss chard with tangy feta cheese, all wrapped in crispy phyllo pastry. Perfect for sharing at parties or as a light snack, these triangles are a nod to the traditional Greek spanakopita, made with a delicious twist!
Ingredients
- Swiss chard
- 1 pound, chopped
- Feta cheese
- 1 cup, crumbled
- Onion
- 1 medium, finely chopped
- Olive oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Egg
- 1, beaten
- Fresh dill
- 1/4 cup, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried dill)
- Phyllo pastry sheets
- 8 sheets
- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the chopped Swiss chard to the skillet and cook until wilted, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked Swiss chard mixture, crumbled feta cheese, beaten egg, dill, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry on a clean surface and brush lightly with olive oil. Place another sheet on top and brush again. Cut the layered phyllo into 3 strips lengthwise.
- Place a tablespoon of the filling at one end of each strip. Fold the corner over to form a triangle, then continue folding the triangle along the strip until you reach the end. Brush the edges with olive oil to seal.
- Repeat with the remaining phyllo sheets and filling.
- Place the triangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds, if using.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
