Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until they soften and release their aromas - about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the sliced mushrooms and continue to cook until they brown and their moisture evaporates - approximately 8 minutes.
- Add the chopped Swiss chard to the skillet and cook until it wilts. This should take about 5 minutes. Season the mixture with salt and pepper, adjusting to your preference.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Add salt and pepper to this mixture as well.
- Position the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Evenly spread the Swiss chard and mushroom mixture over the crust.
- Pour the egg mixture over the vegetables. Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the quiche sets and turns a beautiful golden brown color.
- Allow the quiche to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy the symphony of flavors in every bite!
Tips
- For a bit of variation, you can substitute the Swiss chard with spinach or kale, or use different types of mushrooms like shiitake or portobello. If you prefer a sharper cheese flavor, try mixing in some cheddar or goat cheese along with the gruyere or swiss.
