Servings: 6
Ingredients
- Italian sausage
- 1 pound, casings removed
- Onion
- 1 medium, chopped
- Garlic
- 4 cloves, minced
- Swiss chard
- 1 bunch, stems removed and leaves chopped
- Cannellini beans
- 2 cans (15 oz each), drained and rinsed
- Diced tomatoes
- 1 can (14.5 oz)
- Chicken broth
- 4 cups
- Italian seasoning

- 1/2 cup, grated (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces with a wooden spoon.
- Once the sausage is browned, add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté until the onion is translucent and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped Swiss chard leaves to the pot, stirring until they wilt down, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the cannellini beans, diced tomatoes (with juice), chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Bring the stew to a rolling boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let simmer for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together, stirring occasionally.
- Before serving, taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot, garnished with a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
