Tacos have a rich history, dating back to the 18th century in Mexico, where they were originally served as a portable meal for miners. Now, they are beloved worldwide for their versatility and flavor.

Ingredients

Ground beef
1 pound
Taco seasoning
1 packet (or homemade equivalent)
Water
2/3 cup
Tortillas
8 small (corn or flour)
Lettuce
1 cup, shredded
Tomatoes
1 cup, diced
Onion
1/2 cup, diced
Cheddar cheese
1 cup, shredded
Sour cream
1/2 cup
Guacamole
1/2 cup
Salsa
1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the taco seasoning and the 2/3 cup of water to the skillet. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens.
  3. While the beef is cooking, warm the tortillas in a separate skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side, or wrap them in aluminum foil and place them in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes.
  4. To assemble the tacos, place a generous spoonful of the seasoned ground beef onto each warm tortilla.
  5. Top each taco with a handful of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced onion, and a sprinkle of shredded cheese.
  6. Add a dollop of sour cream, a spoonful of salsa, and a scoop of guacamole on top.
  7. Fold the tortillas in half, serve immediately, and enjoy!

Tips

  • 💡 For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or a splash of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
  • 💡 Try using ground turkey or chicken as a leaner alternative to beef.
  • 💡 For a vegetarian version, substitute the ground beef with black beans or lentils, and season them with taco spices.
