Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the lime juice, orange juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful marinade.
- Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results to enhance the flavor.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, ensuring it's hot enough for a perfect sear.
- Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the excess marinade.
- Grill the steak for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy; 130°F for medium-rare.
- Once grilled, let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain to maximize tenderness.
- Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or stovetop until pliable.
- Assemble the tacos by placing a few slices of the grilled steak on each tortilla. Top with chopped cilantro, diced onion, salsa, and sliced avocado.
- Serve the tacos de carne asada with additional lime wedges and your favorite hot sauce for an extra kick.
Tips
- For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños to the taco toppings or mix some into the salsa.
- Feel free to customize your toppings with options like pickled red onions, shredded cabbage, or different types of salsa.
- If you don’t have flank steak, skirt steak or sirloin can also work well for this recipe.
