Tandoori Kiwi

Tandoori Kiwi is a delightful fusion dish that pairs the tropical sweetness of fresh kiwi with the bold, smoky spices of traditional tandoori marinade. This unique appetizer showcases the versatility of tandoori flavors, traditionally used for meats, elevated here with the vibrant tang of kiwi. Grilled to perfection, each slice offers a burst of flavor that tantalizes the taste buds and makes for a refreshing snack or starter. Serves 4

Ingredients

Kiwi
4, peeled and sliced
Yogurt
1 cup, plain
Tandoori masala
2 tablespoons
Lemon juice
1 tablespoon
Ginger, grated
1 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Chaat masala
1 teaspoon (for garnish)
Cilantro, chopped
2 tablespoons (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the plain yogurt, tandoori masala, lemon juice, grated ginger, and salt. Mix well to create a flavorful marinade.
  2. Add the sliced kiwi to the marinade, gently tossing to ensure each slice is thoroughly coated. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  3. While the kiwi is marinating, preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Once the grill is hot, place the marinated kiwi slices on the grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until you see beautiful grill marks and the kiwi is slightly softened.
  5. Remove the kiwi from the grill and sprinkle chaat masala over the top for an added kick of flavor.
  6. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro for a pop of color and freshness.
  7. Serve the Tandoori Kiwi hot as an appetizer or a unique snack that is sure to impress your guests.

Tips

  • 💡 For a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the marinade.
  • 💡 Feel free to substitute kiwi with other fruits like pineapple or peaches for a different flavor profile.
  • 💡 Pair with a refreshing raita (yogurt sauce) to balance the spices.
