Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Onions
- 2 large, sliced into rings
- Yogurt
- 1 cup, plain
- Tandoori masala
- 2 tablespoons
- Gram flour (chickpea flour)
- 1/2 cup
- Rice flour
- 1/4 cup
- Cornstarch
- 1/4 cup
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
- Cooking spray
- as needed
- Fresh cilantro
- for garnish
- Lemon wedges
- for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the yogurt and tandoori masala, mixing well to create a rich marinade.
- Add the sliced onion rings to the yogurt mixture, ensuring each ring is thoroughly coated. Cover and let marinate for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the gram flour, rice flour, cornstarch, and salt until well combined.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C) for optimal crispiness.
- Carefully take each marinated onion ring and coat it evenly in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Spray the air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the coated onion rings in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd them.
- Air fry the onion rings for 6-8 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Once cooked, remove the onion rings from the air fryer and place them on a serving plate. There's no need to drain excess oil since air frying uses minimal oil.
- Garnish the onion rings with fresh cilantro and serve hot alongside lemon wedges for a refreshing contrast.
