Servings: 4

Ingredients

Onions
2 large, sliced into rings
Yogurt
1 cup, plain
Tandoori masala
2 tablespoons
Gram flour (chickpea flour)
1/2 cup
Rice flour
1/4 cup
Cornstarch
1/4 cup
Salt
1 teaspoon
Cooking spray
as needed
Fresh cilantro
for garnish
Lemon wedges
for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the yogurt and tandoori masala, mixing well to create a rich marinade.
  2. Add the sliced onion rings to the yogurt mixture, ensuring each ring is thoroughly coated. Cover and let marinate for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the gram flour, rice flour, cornstarch, and salt until well combined.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C) for optimal crispiness.
  5. Carefully take each marinated onion ring and coat it evenly in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  6. Spray the air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the coated onion rings in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd them.
  7. Air fry the onion rings for 6-8 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  8. Once cooked, remove the onion rings from the air fryer and place them on a serving plate. There's no need to drain excess oil since air frying uses minimal oil.
  9. Garnish the onion rings with fresh cilantro and serve hot alongside lemon wedges for a refreshing contrast.
