Ingredients

Original recipe serves 8

All-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups
Unsalted butter
1/2 cup, chilled and diced
Granulated sugar
1/4 cup
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
Egg
1, beaten (for the crust)
Chopped walnuts
2 cups
Brown sugar
1/2 cup
Honey
1/4 cup
Heavy cream
1/2 cup
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the flour, chilled butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs, about 10-15 seconds.
  2. Add the beaten egg and pulse until the dough comes together into a ball.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and shape it into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness. Fit it into a 9-inch tart pan, pressing it gently into the edges. Trim any excess dough from the edges.
  6. In a large bowl, mix together the chopped walnuts, brown sugar, honey, vanilla extract, and heavy cream until well combined.
  7. Pour the walnut mixture into the prepared tart shell, spreading it evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
  9. Allow the tart to cool on a wire rack before serving. It can be enjoyed at room temperature or chilled for a refreshing dessert.

Tips

  • 💡 For a richer flavor, toast the walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes until fragrant before adding them to the filling.
  • 💡 Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
  • 💡 This tart can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
