Instructions
- In a food processor, combine the flour, chilled butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs, about 10-15 seconds.
- Add the beaten egg and pulse until the dough comes together into a ball.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and shape it into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness. Fit it into a 9-inch tart pan, pressing it gently into the edges. Trim any excess dough from the edges.
- In a large bowl, mix together the chopped walnuts, brown sugar, honey, vanilla extract, and heavy cream until well combined.
- Pour the walnut mixture into the prepared tart shell, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
- Allow the tart to cool on a wire rack before serving. It can be enjoyed at room temperature or chilled for a refreshing dessert.
Tips
- For a richer flavor, toast the walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes until fragrant before adding them to the filling.
- Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
- This tart can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
