Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil (2 tablespoons)
  • Red chili flakes (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Brown sugar (1 tablespoon)
  • Lime juice (2 tablespoons)
  • Fish sauce (1 tablespoon)
  • Soy sauce (2 tablespoons)
  • Rice noodles (2 cups, cooked)
  • Lettuce leaves (8 large leaves)
  • Carrots (2 medium, julienned)
  • Red bell pepper (1 large, sliced)
  • Thai basil leaves (1 cup)
  • Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
  • Beef sirloin (1 pound, thinly sliced)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, and red chili flakes to create the sauce. Whisk until well blended.
  2. Heat vegetable oil over high heat in a large skillet.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and stir for a few seconds until fragrant. Then, add the sliced beef sirloin. Cook until the beef is thoroughly browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Remove the cooked beef from the skillet and reserve in a bowl.
  5. In the same skillet, add sliced red bell pepper and julienned carrots. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the vegetables are slightly softened.
  6. Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir to coat all ingredients in the sauce.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in Thai basil leaves until they wilt from the residual heat.
  8. To assemble the wraps, lay a lettuce leaf on a plate. Layer a spoonful of cooked rice noodles, followed by the saucy beef and vegetable mixture.
  9. Roll the lettuce leaf around the filling to form a wrap. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  10. Repeat these steps with the remaining ingredients.
  11. Serve the Thai Basil and Beef Wraps immediately with any extra sauce on the side for dipping.
