Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Water
- 1 cup
- Salt
- to taste
- Pepper
- to taste
- Lemon
- 1, juiced
- Garlic
- 3 cloves, minced
- Fresh thyme
- 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Butter
- 4 tablespoons
- Artichokes
- 4 large, trimmed and prepared
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the artichokes: Trim the stems and remove the tough outer leaves until you reach the tender, lighter-colored leaves.
- Cut off the top third of each artichoke and use a spoon to scoop out the choke (the fuzzy part in the center) to ensure a smooth texture when eating.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to foam.
- Add the minced garlic and chopped thyme to the skillet, sautéing for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and the garlic is golden.
- Carefully place the artichokes in the skillet, cut side down. Sear them for about 5 minutes, allowing the bottoms to brown and develop a rich flavor.
- Gently flip the artichokes and add the lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the skillet, ensuring they are well-seasoned.
- Pour the water into the skillet, cover with a lid, and reduce the heat to low.
- Allow the artichokes to simmer for 30-40 minutes, checking occasionally, until they are tender when pierced with a fork.
- Once cooked, serve the braised artichokes warm, drizzled with the buttery thyme sauce from the skillet. Enjoy!
