Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and position the oven rack in the middle.
- In a small bowl, combine the finely chopped fresh thyme, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
- Pat the beef tenderloin dry with paper towels. This will ensure the herb-oil mixture adheres to the meat better.
- Apply the thyme and garlic mixture all over the beef tenderloin, pressing gently to ensure it adheres well. It is important to cover all sides for an even flavor.
- Place the beef tenderloin on a rack in a roasting pan or on a rimmed baking sheet. This will allow even heat circulation for a uniform roast.
- Roast in the preheated oven for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads 135°F for medium-rare, or 145°F for medium. Cooking time may vary based on the size and thickness of your tenderloin.
- Once cooked to your desired level, remove the beef tenderloin from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the roast, ensuring a moist and flavorful result.
- Slice the beef tenderloin into thick or thin slices as per your preference and serve.
Tips
- For added flavor, consider searing the tenderloin on all sides in a hot skillet before roasting. This creates a flavorful crust and locks in the juices. Also, remember to let your meat come to room temperature before cooking for even roasting.
