Arborio rice
2 cups
Ground beef
1 pound
Onion
1 medium, finely chopped
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Salt
to taste
Pepper
to taste
Eggs

Parmesan cheese
1 cup, grated
Mozzarella cheese
1 cup, diced
Tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round baking dish with olive oil or non-stick spray.
  2. Cook the Arborio rice according to package instructions until al dente, then set aside to cool.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce, and season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes to meld the flavors.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, beef mixture, diced mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and beaten eggs. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  7. Transfer the rice mixture to the prepared baking dish, pressing it down firmly to create an even layer.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  9. Once baked, let the Timballo rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
