Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Extra Firm Tofu
- 1 block (14 ounces)
- Sesame Oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger
- 1 tablespoon, finely chopped
- Mixed Vegetables
- 3 cups (broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, peas, etc.)
- Soy Sauce
- 1/4 cup
- Cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon
- Water
- 1/4 cup
Instructions
- Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess water. After pressing, cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.
- Add the tofu cubes to the skillet and sauté until they are golden brown on all sides. This should take about 7-10 minutes. Once done, remove the tofu from the skillet and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and finely chopped ginger. Cook them until they release their fragrant aromas, about 1 minute.
- Add the mixed vegetables to the skillet. Stir-fry them until they become tender but still have a slight crunch, approximately 5-7 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, cornstarch, and water. This mixture will be our rich, savory sauce.
- Pour the sauce over the stir-fried vegetables in the skillet. Stir to ensure all the vegetables are well coated.
- Return the crispy tofu to the skillet and stir everything together, allowing the tofu to absorb the flavors of the sauce and vegetables.
- Continue cooking for a couple more minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
- Serve the Tofu Stir Fry hot. It pairs beautifully with steamed jasmine rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.
