Experience the vibrant flavors of Asia with this delectable Tofu Stir Fry. Crispy golden-brown tofu cubes are sautéed with an abundance of colorful mixed vegetables and a rich, savory sauce. This is a quick and easy dish that captures the essence of Asian cuisine, perfect for a speedy weeknight dinner or a leisurely weekend meal.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

Extra Firm Tofu
1 block (14 ounces)
Sesame Oil
2 tablespoons
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Ginger
1 tablespoon, finely chopped
Mixed Vegetables
3 cups (broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, peas, etc.)
Soy Sauce
1/4 cup
Cornstarch
1 tablespoon
Water
1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess water. After pressing, cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the skillet and sauté until they are golden brown on all sides. This should take about 7-10 minutes. Once done, remove the tofu from the skillet and set it aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and finely chopped ginger. Cook them until they release their fragrant aromas, about 1 minute.
  5. Add the mixed vegetables to the skillet. Stir-fry them until they become tender but still have a slight crunch, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, cornstarch, and water. This mixture will be our rich, savory sauce.
  7. Pour the sauce over the stir-fried vegetables in the skillet. Stir to ensure all the vegetables are well coated.
  8. Return the crispy tofu to the skillet and stir everything together, allowing the tofu to absorb the flavors of the sauce and vegetables.
  9. Continue cooking for a couple more minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  10. Serve the Tofu Stir Fry hot. It pairs beautifully with steamed jasmine rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.
