Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. Pat them dry.
- Insert a skewer into each potato lengthwise, ensuring the skewer goes through the center.
- Using a sharp knife, carefully make a spiral cut along the length of each potato, keeping the cut as even as possible. Start at one end and spiral down to the other end, making sure not to cut all the way through.
- Gently pull the potato slices apart to create the signature tornado shape.
- In a small bowl, combine olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create a seasoned oil.
- Brush the seasoned oil mixture generously onto each potato, making sure to coat all the slices for maximum flavor.
- Place the tornado potatoes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra seasoning or your favorite dipping sauce.
Tips
- For extra flavor, consider adding grated Parmesan cheese or fresh herbs to the seasoned oil mixture.
- These potatoes can be made in an air fryer for a healthier option; reduce the cooking time to about 10-12 minutes.
