Ingredients

Original recipe serves 4

Unsalted butter
2 tablespoons
All-purpose flour
2 tablespoons
Heavy cream
1 cup
Truffle oil
1 tablespoon
Truffle salt
1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon (freshly ground, or to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat until it begins to foam.
  2. Add the all-purpose flour and whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes, cooking until it forms a smooth paste (roux) and turns a light golden color.
  3. Gradually pour in the heavy cream while whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  4. Continue to cook the sauce over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon (about 5-7 minutes).
  5. Once thickened, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the truffle oil, truffle salt, and freshly ground black pepper.
  6. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning as needed to suit your palate.
  7. Serve the truffle sauce warm over pasta, grilled meats, or roasted vegetables, and enjoy the luxurious flavor.

Tips

  • 💡 For an even deeper truffle flavor, consider adding finely chopped fresh truffles if available.
  • 💡 You can substitute half of the heavy cream with chicken or vegetable broth for a lighter version.
  • 💡 This sauce can be prepared ahead of time and gently reheated before serving.
