Ingredients
- Ground turkey
- 1 pound

- Black pepper
- to taste
- Onion
- 1, thinly sliced
- Tomato
- 1, sliced
- Lettuce
- 4 leaves, washed and dried
- Whole wheat buns
- 4
- Avocado
- 1, sliced
- Olive oil
- 1 tablespoon (for grilling)
- Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon (optional)
- Paprika
- 1 teaspoon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika (if using). Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions and form into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging while cooking.
- Grill the patties for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- While the patties are cooking, toast the whole wheat buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a turkey patty, followed by slices of avocado, tomato, and onion.
- Place the top bun on each burger and serve immediately.
Tips
- For an added kick, try mixing in some chopped jalapeños or your favorite hot sauce into the turkey mixture.
- Feel free to substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or lean beef if you prefer.
- Consider adding a slice of cheese on top of the turkey patty during the last minute of grilling for a melty addition.
