Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Apple (2 large, diced)
- Water (4 cups)
- Sugar (1/2 cup (adjust to taste))
- Lemon juice (2 tablespoons, freshly squeezed)
- Cinnamon stick (1)
- Cloves (4-5 whole)
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the diced apples, water, sugar, cinnamon stick, and cloves.
- Bring the mixture to a vigorous boil over high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are soft and tender.
- Remove the pot from the heat. Using a potato masher or a fork, mash the apples until they reach a pulpy consistency.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large jug, using a spatula or the back of a spoon to press down on the apples and extract as much juice as possible.
- Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice for a touch of brightness.
- Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then serve it over ice for a refreshing drink, or reheat it gently to serve warm.
