Indulge in the warmth of Turkish Apple Tea, a vibrant and aromatic beverage that beautifully marries the sweetness of apples with the warming spices of cinnamon and cloves. This delightful drink is a cherished staple in Turkish culture, often enjoyed at social gatherings and family meals. Perfectly refreshing served over ice in the summer or cozy and comforting when enjoyed warm in the winter, this tea captures the essence of hospitality and tradition.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

Apple
2 large, diced
Water
4 cups
Sugar
1/2 cup (adjust to taste)
Lemon juice
2 tablespoons, freshly squeezed
Cinnamon stick
1
Cloves
4-5 whole

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the diced apples, water, sugar, cinnamon stick, and cloves.
  2. Bring the mixture to a vigorous boil over high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are soft and tender.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat. Using a potato masher or a fork, mash the apples until they reach a pulpy consistency.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large jug, using a spatula or the back of a spoon to press down on the apples and extract as much juice as possible.
  6. Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice for a touch of brightness.
  7. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then serve it over ice for a refreshing drink, or reheat it gently to serve warm.
