Servings: 2

Ingredients

Sugar
1-2 teaspoons (optional)
Turkish coffee
2 tablespoons, finely ground
Water
1 cup

Instructions

  1. Measure 1 cup of water and pour it into a cezve (a small, long-handled pot traditional to Turkish coffee brewing).
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of finely ground Turkish coffee and 1-2 teaspoons of sugar to the cezve, depending on your desired sweetness level.
  3. Place the cezve on a stovetop over low heat, which is essential to properly brew Turkish coffee.
  4. Stir the mixture continuously with a small spoon until the coffee and sugar are fully dissolved. This ensures a smooth texture.
  5. Keep the heat low and continue to heat the coffee mixture. As it heats, a thick, rich foam will start to form on the surface.
  6. Just as the coffee mixture is about to boil and the foam starts to rise, carefully remove the cezve from the heat. Timing this right is crucial to achieving the desired foam without letting the coffee boil over.
  7. Let the coffee sit for a minute to allow the grounds to settle at the bottom.
  8. Pour the coffee into small, traditional demitasse cups, making sure to distribute the foam evenly between the cups.
  9. Serve the Turkish coffee hot, accompanied by a glass of water to cleanse the palate, allowing the robust flavors of the coffee to be fully appreciated.
