Instructions
- Cook the udon noodles as per the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and keep them aside.
- To prepare the sake sauce, combine sake, soy sauce, mirin, and sugar in a small saucepan. Place it over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook this for 2-3 minutes, until the sugar has fully dissolved and the sauce has thickened slightly.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the cooked udon noodles to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they are heated through.
- Pour the prepared sake sauce over the stir-fried udon noodles. Toss the noodles well to ensure they are evenly coated in the sauce. Allow this to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to ensure the sauce is thoroughly incorporated.
- Remove the skillet from heat. Garnish the udon noodles with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds before serving.
- Enjoy this delightful dish hot, ideally paired with a cup of green tea or a glass of chilled sake.
Tips
- For a protein-packed version, feel free to add tofu or shrimps.
