Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil (1 tablespoon)
  • Toasted sesame seeds (1 tablespoon)
  • Green onions (2, thinly sliced)
  • Sugar (1 teaspoon)
  • Mirin (1 tablespoon)
  • Soy sauce (2 tablespoons)
  • Sake (1/4 cup)
  • Udon noodles (8 ounces)

Instructions

  1. Cook the udon noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the sake, soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce has slightly thickened.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the cooked udon noodles and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  4. Pour the sake sauce over the noodles and toss to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce is well incorporated.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
