Servings: 12

Ingredients

Egg wash
1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon of water
Filling
2 cups of your choice (e.g. ground meat, cabbage, or mashed potatoes)
Eggs
2
Butter
1/4 cup, melted
Warm milk
1 cup
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Sugar
1 tablespoon
Active dry yeast
1 tablespoon
All-purpose flour
3 cups

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy.
  2. In a separate large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs.
  3. Mix the components together until a dough forms. Transfer this dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Next, place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, covering it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a small circle.
  6. Place a spoonful of your chosen filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal, forming the bun shape.
  7. Place these filled buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover them with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. While the buns are rising, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Brush the risen buns with the egg wash to give them a golden finish.
  10. Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes or until they turn a beautiful golden brown.
  11. Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm for the best taste.
