Instructions
- In a large pot, combine 1 cup of water, malt extract, and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Remove the pot from heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, which will take approximately 30-45 minutes.
- Once cooled, add the remaining 3 cups of water to the pot and stir well to combine.
- Carefully pour the mixture into four clean bottles, ensuring each bottle gets one carbonation drop.
- Seal the bottles tightly and let them sit at room temperature for about one week to allow carbonation to develop.
- After a week, check the carbonation by gently opening one bottle. If it is fizzy, your homemade Vitamalz is ready to be enjoyed. If not, allow the bottles to carbonate for a few more days, checking periodically.
- Once carbonated, store the Vitamalz in the refrigerator and serve chilled. Enjoy this refreshing drink on its own or with light snacks, such as pretzels or cheese.
Tips
- For a unique twist, consider adding a splash of fruit juice, like apple or cherry, during the cooling process for added flavor.
- Ensure your bottles are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to prevent any off-flavors from developing during fermentation.
