Experience an explosion of flavor with these Crunchy Wasabi Peanuts. This recipe brings together the earthy flavor of peanuts, the spiciness of wasabi, and the umami richness of soy sauce, making it a perfect snack for parties, game nights, or simply when you're craving something different. Originating from Japan, wasabi peanuts are a popular snack that will take your taste buds on a journey to the Land of the Rising Sun!

Serves 8

Ingredients

Vegetable oil
2 tablespoons
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
Wasabi powder
2 tablespoons
Raw peanuts
2 cups

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the wasabi powder, soy sauce, salt, and vegetable oil to create a spicy wasabi paste.
  3. Add the raw peanuts to the wasabi paste and toss until they are evenly coated.
  4. Spread the coated peanuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded for even roasting.
  5. Roast in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the peanuts are golden brown and crispy. Make sure to shake the tray halfway through for even browning.
  6. Remove from the oven and allow the peanuts to cool completely on the baking sheet. They will continue to crunch up as they cool.
  7. Once completely cooled, store the wasabi peanuts in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Tips

  • 💡 For a variation, try adding some sesame seeds to the mix before roasting.
  • 💡 Always let the peanuts cool completely before storing. This helps to maintain their crunch.
  • 💡 If you love a good kick, feel free to add more wasabi powder. But be warned, wasabi packs quite the punch!
