Elevate your breakfast game with this delightful Classic Western Omelet, also known as the 'Denver Omelet.' This traditional American breakfast staple brims with the hearty goodness of ham, colorful bell peppers, and sweet onions, all enveloped in a fluffy egg blanket. It's topped off with a generous layer of melted Cheddar cheese, creating a mouthwatering melange of flavors that will transport you to a cozy diner on a sunny morning.

Servings: 1

Ingredients

Butter
1 tablespoon
Salt
1/4 teaspoon, or to taste
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon, or to taste
Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup, shredded
Onion
1/4 cup, finely chopped
Bell peppers
1/4 cup, finely chopped (mix of red and green peppers)
Ham
1/4 cup, diced
Eggs
3, large

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the eggs with salt and black pepper until well mixed.
  2. Heat butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until it melts and starts to sizzle.
  3. Add the diced ham, bell peppers, and onion to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are tender and the ham is slightly browned, about 5 minutes.
  4. Pour the beaten eggs over the cooked vegetables and ham in the skillet, ensuring the mixture is evenly spread.
  5. Let the omelet cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes, or until the edges start to set.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over one half of the omelet.
  7. Using a spatula, gently fold the other half of the omelet over the cheese.
  8. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the omelet is cooked through. Be careful not to overcook.
  9. Slide the omelet onto a plate and serve hot. Enjoy this classic comfort food as is, or with a side of whole grain toast and fresh fruit.
