Classic Western Omelette
This is a traditional Western Omelette, a staple in American diners and breakfast tables. It is a robust and flavorful concoction of fluffy eggs, savory ham, crisp bell peppers, aromatic onions, and gooey cheddar cheese. This hearty omelette is a delightful fusion of color, texture, and taste - a perfect way to kickstart your day!
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- Butter
- 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper
- to taste
- Cheddar cheese
- 1 cup, shredded
- Onion
- 1 medium, finely chopped
- Bell peppers
- 1 cup, diced (you can use a mix of colors for a vibrant omelette)
- Ham
- 1 cup, diced
- Eggs
- 4, large, beaten
Instructions
- In a bowl, beat the eggs along with salt and pepper until frothy. Set aside.
- Heat butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until it melts. Tilt the pan to coat the bottom evenly.
- Add the diced ham, bell peppers, and onion to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are tender and the ham is lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
- Pour the beaten eggs evenly over the cooked vegetables and ham in the skillet. Let it cook undisturbed until the edges start to set, about 2-3 minutes.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over one half of the omelette.
- Using a spatula, gently fold the other half of the omelette over the cheese-covered half.
- Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the omelette is fully set. Be careful not to overcook, as the omelette should be soft and slightly creamy in the middle.
- Gently slide the omelette onto a plate and serve hot. Enjoy your classic Western Omelette!
