Servings: 4

Ingredients

Beef (sirloin, ribeye, or tenderloin)
1 pound, thinly sliced
Soy sauce
1/4 cup
Sake
2 tablespoons
Mirin
2 tablespoons
Sugar
1 tablespoon
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Sesame oil
1 tablespoon
Assorted vegetables
2 cups, cut into bite-sized pieces (bell peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, etc.)
Green onions
1/4 cup, chopped
Sesame seeds
2 tablespoons, toasted

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sake, mirin, sugar, minced garlic, and sesame oil to create a flavorful marinade.
  2. Place the thinly sliced beef in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag, and pour the marinade over it, ensuring all pieces are well-coated. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes, or up to 2 hours for enhanced flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat until hot.
  4. Thread the marinated beef slices onto skewers, alternating with your choice of sliced vegetables.
  5. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until the beef reaches your desired doneness and the vegetables are tender and slightly charred.
  6. Remove the skewers from the grill and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added texture and flavor.
  7. Serve the Yakiniku skewers with steamed rice and a selection of dipping sauces such as ponzu or spicy sesame sauce.
