Long grain white rice
1 cup
Chicken broth
2 cups
Water
1 cup
Turmeric
1 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon
Olive oil

Fresh parsley or cilantro
chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the long grain white rice under cold water in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear, which helps remove excess starch and prevents sticking.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat (if using). Add the rinsed rice and sauté for 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and water, then add turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine all the ingredients.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes to allow the rice to steam.
