Serves 12

Ingredients

Cooking oil
for greasing hands
Granulated sugar
1 cup, for coating
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
Unsalted butter
2 tablespoons
Egg yolks
4 large
Condensed milk
1 (14-ounce) can

Instructions

  1. In a non-stick pan, melt the butter over low heat, being careful not to let it brown.
  2. Once the butter is melted, add the condensed milk and egg yolks to the pan. Stir continuously using a wooden spoon or spatula, ensuring the mixture is well combined.
  3. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan, approximately 10-15 minutes.
  4. Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  5. Lightly grease your hands with cooking oil to prevent sticking, then scoop out small portions of the mixture and shape them into balls or your desired form.
  6. Roll each shaped Yema ball in granulated sugar until fully coated, giving them a sweet, crunchy exterior.
  7. Place the coated Yema balls in small paper cups or on a lined baking sheet.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up before serving.
  9. Enjoy these delicious Yema as a sweet treat or gift them to friends and family! They also pair wonderfully with coffee or tea.

Tips

  • 💡 For a twist, try adding a pinch of salt or a sprinkle of grated coconut to the mixture for added flavor.
  • 💡 You can also infuse the Yema with different flavors such as chocolate or matcha for unique variations.
