Invigorate your senses with this aromatic Yerba Luisa tea, a delightfully refreshing beverage that not only tastes wonderful but has known calming and digestive benefits. Yerba Luisa, also known as Lemon Verbena, is a South American plant that has been used for centuries for its soothing properties and its enchantingly citrusy aroma. Sip on this delightful tea and transport yourself to the lush landscapes of South America, right in the comfort of your own home.
Ingredients
- Yerba Luisa (Lemon Verbena) leaves
- 1 handful (about 1/4 cup)
- Water
- 2 cups
- Honey or sugar
- to taste
Instructions
- Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a pot or kettle.
- While the water is boiling, place a handful of Yerba Luisa leaves into a teapot or a large mug.
- Once the water reaches a boil, pour it directly over the Yerba Luisa leaves.
- Allow the tea to steep for 10-15 minutes. This allows the leaves to release their full flavor and beneficial properties into the water.
- After steeping, strain the tea into a cup to remove the leaves. You can use a tea strainer or a small sieve.
- Add honey or sugar according to your taste preference and stir well before serving. Enjoy your homemade Yerba Luisa tea hot, or let it cool and serve it over ice for a refreshing iced tea variant.
Tips
- Yerba Luisa leaves can be used fresh or dried. If you're using fresh leaves, crush them slightly before steeping to release their oils. Additionally, you can add a slice of fresh lemon or a few drops of lemon juice to your tea for an extra citrusy kick.
