Instructions
- Remove the zabuton steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Generously season the steaks with salt and black pepper on both sides, allowing the seasoning to penetrate the meat.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully place the steaks in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side for medium-rare, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side, or until your desired level of doneness is reached.
- Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes on a cutting board to allow the juices to redistribute.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic, butter, and thyme. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the garlic is fragrant and the butter is melted.
- Spoon the garlic butter mixture over the rested steaks, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Garnish with additional fresh thyme if desired and serve immediately.
Tips
- For an extra depth of flavor, marinate the steaks in olive oil, garlic, and thyme for a few hours before cooking.
- Serve with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh arugula salad for a balanced meal.
- Experiment with adding a splash of balsamic vinegar to the garlic butter for a tangy twist.
