Tannat
An intensely tannic, deeply colored red grape from the Basque country, now the national grape of Uruguay. Produces powerful, chewy wines with dark fruit, tobacco, and earthy flavors. Famously high in polyphenols and tannins, often softened by micro-oxygenation.
