Servings: 6
Ingredients
- Unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup, cold and cubed
- Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup
- Brown sugar
- 1/2 cup
- Old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup
- Lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon
- Granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup
- Apples
- 6 cups, peeled, cored, and sliced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, 1/4 cup of the all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of the ground cinnamon, and the lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated. Set this aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, remaining flour, remaining cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and cut it into the oat mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the apples.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve warm. For an extra touch of indulgence, top each serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
