Ingredients

Original recipe serves 1

Fresh coconut
1 (young green coconut)
Straw
1 (for sipping)

Instructions

  1. Select a fresh green coconut; younger coconuts are ideal for their sweeter and more delicate water.
  2. Thoroughly clean the outside of the coconut to remove any dirt or debris.
  3. Locate the three 'eyes' on one end of the coconut; these are the softer spots where you can puncture it.
  4. Using a clean screwdriver and a hammer, carefully puncture two of the eyes to create holes.
  5. Invert the coconut over a glass or bowl to let the coconut water drain out completely.
  6. Optionally, strain the coconut water through a fine mesh sieve to remove any bits of shell or pulp for a smoother texture.
  7. Insert a straw into one of the holes and enjoy your fresh coconut water directly from the coconut for the ultimate tropical experience!

Tips

  • 💡 If you prefer a flavored twist, consider adding a splash of lime or a few mint leaves to your coconut water for a refreshing variation.
  • 💡 Coconut water can also be used as a base for smoothies or cocktails, blending perfectly with fruits like pineapple or mango.
