Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.

- Stir in the marinara sauce and heavy cream, allowing it to simmer for about 5 minutes until well combined.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ziti pasta, meat sauce, grated Parmesan cheese, and chopped fresh basil. Mix well until the pasta is evenly coated.
- Transfer the ziti mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese, ensuring an even layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional fresh basil, if desired.
Tips
- For a vegetarian version, substitute the ground beef with sautéed mushrooms or lentils.
- Feel free to add vegetables like spinach, bell peppers, or zucchini to the meat sauce for added nutrition.
- Try using different types of cheese like provolone or fontina for a unique twist on flavor.
