Elevate the flavor of your dishes with this delightful Dijon Mustard and Honey Marinade. A perfect amalgamation of sweet honey, tangy Dijon mustard, and a hint of zesty lemon, this marinade is sure to bring a burst of flavor to your chicken, pork, or fish. This marinade recipe hails from Dijon, France, known for its mustard, and has been used for centuries to enhance the taste of meat and fish.

Servings: Enough for 2 pounds of meat

Ingredients

  • Lemon juice (2 tablespoons, freshly squeezed)
  • Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
  • Soy sauce (3 tablespoons)
  • Honey (4 tablespoons)
  • Dijon mustard (4 tablespoons)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the Dijon mustard, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  2. Whisk all the ingredients together until they are fully combined and you have a smooth, viscous marinade. This should take about 2 minutes.
  3. Pour the marinade over your chosen meat, making sure it is fully coated. Use a basting brush if necessary to distribute the marinade evenly.
  4. Cover the marinated meat and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. For best results, marinate it overnight to let the flavors penetrate deeply into the meat.
  5. After marinating, cook your meat as desired. The remaining marinade can be used as a basting sauce while cooking, just be sure to boil it first to kill any bacteria from the raw meat.
