Dubu Buchim

This pan-fried tofu is perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, while being soft and tender on the inside. It's served with a luscious, savory soy-based sauce that is infused with the aromatic flavors of sesame oil, minced garlic, and fresh green onions. Traditionally enjoyed as an appetizer or side dish, Dubu Buchim is not only satisfying but also a healthy option that can be served with a bowl of steamed rice or as part of a larger Korean feast. Instructions
- Start by draining the tofu and patting it dry with paper towels. Cut the tofu block into rectangular slices, about 1/2 inch thick.
- In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, chopped green onions, and toasted sesame seeds. Mix well to create a flavorful sauce.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot before adding the tofu.
- Carefully place the tofu slices in the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
- Once the tofu is cooked, pour the prepared sauce over the tofu slices, allowing it to evenly coat them. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, letting the sauce thicken slightly.
- Remove from heat and serve hot, garnished with extra chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy as an appetizer, side dish, or even as a main course with rice.
Tips
- For extra flavor, marinate the tofu slices in the soy sauce mixture for 20-30 minutes before frying.
- You can add vegetables such as bell peppers or broccoli to the skillet while frying the tofu for a more colorful dish.
- If you prefer a spicier version, add a splash of gochujang (Korean chili paste) to the sauce.
