Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Toss well to ensure the apples are thoroughly coated. Set aside for the flavors to meld.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the milk and the egg. Stir until a smooth batter forms.
- Fold the apple mixture into the batter, ensuring all the apples are well coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large, deep pot to 375°F (190°C). Ensure there is enough oil to completely submerge the fritters.
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, taking care not to overcrowd the pot. Fry until the fritters are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the fritters and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- While still warm, dust the fritters generously with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy them warm for the best experience.
Tips
- For a variation, you could add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter for an extra layer of flavor.
- Choose firm apples, like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, for the best texture in the fritters.
